The Class Act

Written and directed by Meherzad Patel ‘The Class Act’ is a satirical take on religious stereotypes set in an acting class. The class is conducted by a certain Mr. William who has to deal with the egos and hassles of five ``actors``- a loud mouth, bike-obsessed Parsi; a Hindu theatre veteran; a young Muslim boy; a straight-from the-beaches-of- Goa Christian, and a glamorous television actress.

Ranjit Barot And The Resistance

Ranjit was born in a family that breathed Indian classical music and dance. He took to drums at the age of 12 and became one of India’s leading artists on drums at the young age of 17! Watch him perform with talented musicians like Tala Farral (Saxophone), Aditya Benai (Guitar), Harmeet Manseta and Hitesh Modak (Keys), Mohini Dey (Bass), Sharmisttha Chatterjee and Shabab Sabri (Vocals).

Roots

A Mayurbhanj Chhau & Contemporary Dance Performance by Santosh Nair and Sadhya Unit of Performing Arts

If you would like to try something different this week then head over to the experimental theatre at NCPA. Mayurbhanj Chhau is a martial art form of Orissa which draws from a wide range of subjects like martial craft, mythology, stylized gaits of birds and animals, history and daily activities and imaginative themes.
